Reported on the Rugby Canada website, world renowned Cuban Pianist Frank Fernández, joined by Juno award winning guitarist Jack Semple will present an evening of music that will leave you spellbound on Sunday September 12th in Toronto.
Frank Fernández a Cuban, became a professional pianist at the age of 15. Pulizer Prize winning author James Michener said this about the maestro: “Frank Fernández began that night his concert in Havana, it is difficult to define the excitement I experienced, I was sitting deeply comfortable on my seat and let the music to move around me and once more I was captivated by her, discovering one of he greatest art secrets.” Fernández has written more than 650 original works.
Jack Semple grew up on a farm just north of Regina, and became educated in classical, flamenco and acoustic guitar. Semple played on the Country West television program meeting several leading Cnadian recording artists. From the show he leaped into rhythm and blues launching the Luxury Blues Band. He became a Canadian national presence when he won the MuchMusic “Guitar Wars” competition in 1992. He also won the Outstanding Instrumental Recording award at the Western Canadian Music awards in 2005.
